<\/strong><\/span>This seminar is suitable for CEO\u2019s\/CFOs\/COO\u2019s and senior\/mid level executives of insurance companies, reinsurer, brokers, associations, consultants, corporates, banks, academicians, Government agencies, NGOs & MFI\u2019s and of course
concerned regulators.<\/p>\n

Background of Seminar:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>
It is said that insurance sector of Bangladesh is not contributing signi\udbc0\udfd0icantly to the GDP of Bangladesh compared to that of other countries. In the world, the average GDP contribution by the insurance sector is 7% whereas it is merely 0.55% in our country.<\/p>\n

We need to look into it and \udbc0\udfd0ind out ways to increase its contribution. Government has published the \u2018National Insurance Policy-2014\u2019 where it is stated that the contribution of the insurance sector to GDP will have to increase to 4% by 2021 which is still far away from reality. We should analyse the challenges of this sector and decide our future course of action accordingly so that Insurance sector can progress in accordance with the other sectors of our country.<\/p>\n

Among the 17 crore people, only approximate10% have life insurance. Life funds of insurance Companies have not increased proportionally, rather been decreasing. Policy lapse is about 78%. On the other side, non-life insurance did not increase much. In such circumstances the seminar has been arranged with the aim to explore the causes behind the low contribution of insurance in GDP, \udbc0\udfd0ind out the ways to remove them and to adopt strategies for future growth of the insurance industry.<\/p>\n

Objective:<\/strong><\/span>
The seminar will \udbc0\udfd0ind out the causes of remedies for enhancing insurance penetration in Bangladesh. The paper presenters and the resource persons will suggest\/recommend the ways and means to overcome penetration crisis of insurance sector in Bangladesh. In order to share knowledge and experience with neighboring country, we have invited renowned resource persons from India to exchange views with our industry people.<\/p>\n

About BIPD:<\/strong><\/span>
Bangladesh Institute for Professional Development (BIPD) is an accredited training institute of Insurance Development & Regulatory Authority (IDRA). It was incorporated in 2015 as a legal entity under the Companies Act. The general objectives of BIPD is to promote human capital development through conducting seminar, workshop training, research, education and other professional development activities i.e. publication of books, Journals, souvenirs, etc.<\/p>\n

About BIA:<\/strong><\/span>
The greatest Bengali of thousands of year, father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established Bangladesh Insurance Academy as an autonomous body on November 29, 1973 in order to create skilled and trained professionals in the insurance industry. Academy has been showing its excellence as a hub of insurance and risk management training center with participants being drawn from the insurance industry of both public, private and other business sectors. It currently functions as an autonomous body under the administrative control of the Financial Institutions Division, Ministry of Finance.<\/p>\n
