1. Major challenges facing insurance industry
Insurance industry currently faces four major challenges.
These are:
- Term low interest rates
- An aging population
- The Fin Tech wave requirements
- Comply with international standards such as IFRS 17.
Mr. Wellington Koo, Chairman of the Financial services Commission, Taiwan has recently identified these major challenges of insurance industry. He said, “While life insurance policies originally aimed to protect policyholders, they have become more of a wealth management tool, with many insurers promoting high survival benefits instead of death benefits.

2. Climate Change
The Minister for Climate Change of New Zealand has recently announced the establishment of an independent climate change commission.
The Commission provide independent expert advice to the government and to monitor and review the government’s progress towards emissions reduction and adaptation goal.
The Act provides a framework for reducing emissions and achieving climate resilience.
The Commission will have a statutory obligation to engage with communities, seek evidence and consult before submitting that, Do you think that such commission can be established in Bangladesh for similar activities and objectives?
